Adopt-A-Soldier Program

At this time we are modifying our adopt-a-soldier program to accept donations for cleaning solution and flags. With 100 soldiers adopted we are encountering some difficulty in placing a new flag each year (we need your help!). However, we want to keep cleaning stones, including those soldiers listed to the right who have not been adopted. Please consider a donation of only $10.00 as we work to honor these civil war veterans. Thank you!

The Civil War Augusta mission is to promote, preserve, and interpret the Civil War story of Augusta. Our Adopt-A-Soldier program preserves the memory of Civil War soldiers in Bracken County by dignifying their final resting place with a grave marker and an appropriate flag. From the original plan of doing just the two cemeteries in Augusta proper, we have expanded the program to other Bracken County locations. We offer to you a way to honor these men through our Adopt-A-Soldier program.

The program is a way for you to provide funds that will be used for purchasing a Grand Army of the Republic or Confederate Veteran marker and an appropriate flag to be placed at the soldier’s grave. The fee is $25.00 per soldier and will provide a grave marker and a flag, and we will clean the veteran’s stone.

Adopting a soldier is easy. Simply pick an available veteran from the list and click the ADOPT button below. Complete details and send your payment securely using PayPal. Or contact us using the form below with the soldier’s name and we will let you know how to send in the fee to purchase the marker and flag. (soldiers marked in bold have been adopted)
